2021 was a banner year for AWSSR, despite the pandemic, with the largest numbers of new horse registrations since our rebranding in 2017. We had 122 new horse registrations and 87 new memberships.
Six people took advantage of having their horses inspected by video including Inspection Horse of the Year and Stallion Champion Toto’s Weather Tamer/*///*// by Totalis/Don Schufro and owned by Deb Warner of Columbia, TN. We had 4 on site inspections: Silver Fern Farm In Elton, MD organized by Mary Ann Luke, Xanadu Farm, Washington, MO , Nancy Roth and CCR Farm, organizers, Maple Swamp Farm In Waynesburg, KY, organized by Ela Ladwig and family, and Walnut Creek Sport Ponies, organized by Belinda Purvis in Ames, IA. We are giving out 43 inspection awards and 80 sport awards.
Sharon Booth, our Western Dressage Director at Large, continues to inspire our Western Dressage folks to compete fiercely for the gorgeous trophy belt buckles donated by her Goldenrod Performance Horses.
AWSSR has donated Breed Awards to a number of recognized competitions including the US Dressage Finals and the Sallie B Wheeler National Hunter Breeding Championships.
Five horses were chosen as AWSSR Ambassadors, and one, for the first time, in a non competitive capacity. TSM Air Attack, a 2019 Pinto Warmblood stallion, has made a big presence on social media, expertly presented by his owner/trainer Addie Malinski. Get to know him and the other 4, Deanna Hertrich-Nelson’s Pik Me, Jennifer Kaiser’s FHF Rock Star, Elaine Cole’s Oreo, and Belinda Purvis’s Kendro/*/*//*// on our Sporthorse Spotlights.
We want to thank all of our members and friends for your enthusiasm and support. You have put this society on the map. We welcome your input and ideas to make our organization even better in 2022!
