We made it back! To again have AWSSR represented at the 2022 WDAA World Championship Show was an honor. Western dressage was a celebrated, well attended discipline this year. Many thanks go out to Dini Swanson, WDAA executive director,  Susan Pape-Peacock show secretary, Jim Porcher, show manager, and all the wonderful staff and volunteers who made this show amazing.  The judges were well chosen and provided instructive comments for horse and riders.

Our sponsorship of the Costume Freestyle Cocktail Party had great food, lots of fun and a silent auction. The attendees loved it. My AWSSR table was visited by many interested in our registry.  AWSSR also sponsored the Warmblood Breed Awards and had a ½ page ad in the official show program. Pictures from the party and show were taken by Brad Fenley of Brad Fenley Images this year. He has a special passion for photography……especially for agriculture, western life and horses. I truly hope you will enjoy the pictures shown here.

The Lazy E Arena staff maintained their devotion to make horses, riders and attendees have the best show experience ever at this facility.

We look forward to the year end award winners for Western Dressage and the beautiful buckles they will receive. AWSSR appreciates  the hard work and dedication shown by all our members who have joined this fast growing division.

A special joy for me this year was to again enter one of my own qualifying horses to this great show.  My young, 2-year-old, black stallion, Colonel D Bar,  qualified to go along with a stablemate, Dewalt.  The trainer for both, Peter Lichau, recommended taking them to the Word Show, so Maybeth (Dewalt’s owner and rider) and I worked fast to get memberships done and entries sent out. The work was well worth it, as was a gratifying experience for horses and riders. I have seen Pete work with a lot of young horses and he is one of the very best at starting them. His very capable and patient methods were proven in the ring as both horses showed beyond expectations and both qualified for AWSSR membership. I can also attest to the excellent management of the backside stalls, trash pick-up, water and wash racks, shaving delivers and constant announcements over the pa systems throughout.  We had such a good time and learned volumes about our horses!

Always,

Sharon Booth
